My Favorite Ella Phrases

Here are some of my favorite phrases that Ella is saying these days.

"Mommy tries" - She says this whenever she wants me to copy something she's doing. She loves to see Daddy or I try her faces and dances. :-)

"Some more fall down get ouchy" - This one cracks me up. She doesn't literally want to get an ouchy, but this string of words is what's stuck with her concerning anything exciting where you might fall down or feel like you're falling down.

"Mommy snuggles" - Sometimes she really does want Mommy to snuggle her and sometimes she uses this phrase to lure me to something she wants me to do with her. She's already figured out that mommy can't resist snuggles. For Daddy she uses "watch movies" which always gets him to follow her.

"Your welcome, baby" - She frequently says this in place of thank you or right after saying thank you. She knows that "your welcome, baby" is what mommy says when she says "thank you" and just gets confused about which comes first.

"Oh, cute!" - This has recently taken the place of "oh, pretty".

"Mommy gets you" - She says this to me when she wants me to play gotcha with her.

"Real stinky" - She says this so emphatically that it makes me laugh every time. She learned it from me telling her why her diaper needed to be changed right away. :-)

"Where is it? Is it hiding somewhere?" - She learned this phrase from Daddy. Now she frequently follows her question of where something is with "is it hiding somewhere?".

She's also trying to count. It usually goes something like... "1, 2, 1, 2, 6, 3, 1" and she sometimes follows her counting with "ready, set, go". :-)

She's trying to learn her colors as well. She loves to have us line up her different colors of Play-Doh and go through the colors with her. Her default color (when she's not sure) is "purple". She's pretty consistent with purple, yellow, orange, and blue so far.

She refers to herself as "baby". She does know that Ella is her name, but we call her baby so much that she's adopted it for herself too. For instance... "baby tries", "baby eats food", etc. We're going to be careful that we don't stop referring to her as "baby" after Emma arrives until she's ready to move on from it. I don't want her to feel that her role as baby has been replaced with the addition of a new baby. I think Emma may be referred to more by her name as a result. She already is when I talk about her kicking, etc. where as Ella was referred to as "the baby" when she was in my belly.
